Dr. Peter Gianoulis
Dr. Peter Gianoulis has been with the Chrysalis Medispa team for over three years, and he brings with him over seven years of extensive experience in cosmetic medicine. A well-regarded Townsville GP, he is available every week at Chrysalis for appointments for all skin and ageing concerns. Dr. Gianoulis has special interests in vascular laser treatments, Pearl and Pearl Fractional laser resurfacing, laser hair removal, Laser Genesis and Limelight IPL, injectables, physician-only peels, compounded skincare and customised prescriptive treatments. He is adept at treating acne, pigmented lesions, scarring, general ageing concerns and many other skin conditions. Dr. Gianoulis also performs skin checks and can advise on skin cancer treatment, as well as providing a range of non-surgical skin cancer treatments including photodynamic therapy. He has a passion for aesthetics, and working with our team including our injectables nurses. He is happy to see new and existing patients at Chrysalis.
Registered Nurse/Senior Cosmetic Injector
Shona graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Nursing Science in 1995. She spent the next two years establishing nursing experience in Brisbane and then took the opportunity to travel. Overseas, Shona worked in various nursing settings, before specialising in surgical theatre nursing at Moorefields Eye Hospital, London.
In 2005 Shona joined a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at his prestigious clinic in central London. It was the start of what has now become her passion. Always wanting to learn about the industry, she attended world renowned conferences including the E.M.A.A. and F.A.C.E. conferences in Paris and London. Shona was also a yearly attendant to the Royal College of Nursing – Aesthetic Nursing Forum.
Over the next four years Shona gained experience and certificates in dermal fillers, muscle relaxing injections, advanced chemical skin peels, light therapies, laser rejuvenation and other treatments such as mesotherapy. She was also the surgical assistant when needed, and has a great deal of knowledge about cosmetic surgical procedures.
In 2011, Shona returned to her home of North Queensland and joined Chrysalis. With 10 years of cosmetic and non-surgical experience Shona is an asset to our team. Passionate about skin care and health, she is a firm believer in encouraging individuals to look the best they can and feel great about themselves.
Shona keeps up to date with techniques and information by attending conferences such as the ASAPS Non Surgical Symposium and Cosmetex Conferences (Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery). Shona is a member of the The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) and plans to study her Masters of Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) Cosmetic Nursing. Shona is also a QLD Clinical Trainer for Galderma (Aesthetic and Corrective).

Under the prescription of Dr Mark Vucak, Shona will see you for your cosmetic non surgical treatments. Friendly and easy to talk to, she is always happy to meet with you, to answer any of your injectable and skin rejuvenation questions.
Skin Care Therapist
Katherine is a diploma qualified therapist who is truly passionate about her job. She has been with the Chrysalis Team for over three and a half years now, having spent five years in a boutique CBD salon prior to that. Katherine enjoys working in a clinical environment with a skilled multi-disciplinary team who are committed to providing evidence-based skin solutions.
Katherine enjoys the process of consulting with patients about their skin and developing plans to help patients meet their ultimate skin goals. From simple skin routines right through to creating bespoke solutions for complex skin conditions, she is able to apply an understanding of skin physiology and skincare ingredients to improve all skins. She believes in a sustainable approach and won’t overload you with anything you don’t need! Katherine specialises in treating sensitive and reactive skins, as well as acne and ageing concerns. She also enjoys working with post-operative patients from our partner practice Queensland Plastic Surgery, to optimise their wound healing and, where necessary, provide solutions for minimising scarring. Katherine is also highly requested for her amazing facials.
Katherine is in her final semester of a Bachelor of Nursing Science program at James Cook University and enjoys integrating her growing anatomy and physiology understanding into her skin science knowledge.
Beck has been a valued member of the Chrysalis Medispa team for over the last year with her focus being on excellent patient care and customer service.
Beck holds an Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Dermal Science from the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science, and has over four years of experience in the use of lasers for skin therapy and hair reduction.
Beck enjoys treating inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea, dermatitis and acne, and her favourite procedure to perform in-clinic is vascular laser. She is also our laser hair reduction whiz, with loads of hair reduction experience.
In her spare time, Beck loves to bake and makes amazing birthday cakes! Her creative skills also extend to fashion, and she designs her own swimwear!
Registered Nurse/Cosmetic Injector
Joyce graduated from RMIT in Melbourne in 2006 and undertook a graduate nurse program with Warringal Private Hospital in 2007; she completed her post graduate diploma in Nursing Science(Perioperative stream) through 2008 while continuing to work in the operating theatres at Warringal.
In 2009 Joyce moved toTownsville and started work at both The Townsville Hospital and The Mater Hospitals an operating theatre nurse at which time she also began working with Dr Mark Vucak in his surgeries over which time she developed a keen interest in cosmetic nursing and gained employment with Dr Vucak at Queensland PlasticSurgery in 2014. Joyce has since completed her cosmetic injectable course with Australian Skin Skill Education and Training, and this year she has joined the Chrysalis Medispa team as a cosmetic injector.
Joyce is married with one child, a five year old girl, and is keen on personal health and fitness, running, and going to the gym regularly. She also enjoys watching and attending sports such as Australian Rules Football and Formula One Racing.
Chrysalis Medispa would love to introduce to you Eleonora Romani. She is from Italy and moved to Australia in 2015, spending the first 2 and half years in Sydney before moving to Townsville Feb 2018.
Eleonora has 6 years of experience in the beauty industry with a Diploma in Beauty & a Post Graduate Diploma in Dermal Therapies which she received in March 2019 from AACDS (Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science). Eleonora is an associate member of the Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians, which recognises only registered Dermal Therapist that undertake the necessary training to be eligible for this job title. She has also been working with Aspect Dr & Cosmedix for a couple of years and really loves the product line. Her experience in all things beauty makes Eleonora a great addition to Chrysalis Medispa for your basic to advance treatments as she holds a full laser QLD licence.
Some of Eleonora’s favourite treatments are skin needling, laser rejuvenation and LED treatments and her favourite products are opti crystal from Cosmedix and Multi b from Aspect Dr.
Eleonora’s hobbies include exercise and food, especially pizza and pasta 🙂
Eleonora has an extremely holistic approach to skin conditions, treating both externally and internally and she looks forward to working in our diverse team of doctors, plastic surgeons and nurses. Eleonora is also excited to learn new things and share her knowledge with clients.
Chrysalis Medispa would like to welcome Deborah Murdock into the family. She will be our main receptionist and with her over 20-years experience in the beauty industry as a Beauty Therapist she will have invaluable information to share. Deborah’s warm and friendly attitude will put all customers at ease along with being able to assist you with your enquires and making specific product recommendations.
Deborah is a former instructor at Townsville’s Beauty Therapy College and she is looking forward to getting to know all of the clients and working closing with the doctors and staff.
