What are muscle relaxing medicines?
Neuro-modulators or muscle relaxing medicines are natural purified proteins. In cosmetic medicine they are used to target facial muscles that, with continual movement, can cause fine lines and wrinkles in the skin.
What are dynamic wrinkles?
“Dynamic” wrinkles, or lines that appear with muscle movement, will usually start to develop in your 30’s. Factors such as diet, lifestyle, UV damage and smoking will influence how repeated muscle contractions effect your skin. A good example are those lines between your eyebrows that cause people to say; “are you grumpy today?” When all you were really doing was thinking of what was for dinner? These specific muscles respond very well to muscle relaxing injections. As a result of this temporarily reduced muscle activity, dynamic lines can be eliminated or reduced dramatically: for the duration of the medicines’ effect.
What’s involved in a treatment?
Before you choose to undergo any treatment, possible risks and contraindications will be outlined. The treatment itself will take around 15mins, with a very small gauge needle ensuring the prescribed dose is delivered to the necessary muscle. During the injection a brief discomfort may be experienced, however a topical anaesthetic is usually not required. You will be provided with aftercare instructions to ensure best results, and a follow up consultation is recommended at 2 weeks. Results will gradually appear in the 1-2 weeks after your treatment, and can last up to 3-4 months. Reduction or prevention of fine lines and wrinkles is more successful with ongoing treatments at prescribed intervals. All treatments are prescribed for your specific needs, and prices will vary according to dose prescribed.
