Our wonderful Nurse Joyce works with Dr Mark Vucak to provide Chrysalis Medispa’s cosmetic injectables treatments. Here’s a little bit more about Joyce and her interest in cosmetic treatments…
Becoming a Registered Nurse
Joyce graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne in 2006 and went on to complete a graduate nurse program in Victoria. While working as a Nurse, she continued her studies with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Science, specialising in perioperative care (surgery). She first began working with Queensland Plastic Surgery’s Dr Mark Vucak over a decade ago as an operating theatre nurse at the Mater Private Hospital in Townsville. Joyce credits her nursing experience injecting local anaesthetic with helping her minimise discomfort when applying injectables treatments for our clients.
Passion for cosmetic treatments
Joyce’s interest in cosmetic treatments started when she worked with Dr Vucak in theatre, and she then joined the Queensland Plastic Surgery in 2014. She saw the positive impact that cosmetic procedures were having on patient’s lives and enjoyed being part of the team providing these aesthetic results, leading her to a more hands-on role in this process as an Injector. Above all, she loves seeing patients after their treatment, when they see themselves in the mirror and are thrilled with the results.
Training to be a Cosmetic Injector
In addition to her extensive nursing training, Joyce has attended several courses to become an Injectables Nurse, including her training with the Australian Skin Skill Education & Training. She also worked closely with experienced injectors to build her knowledge. She attends conferences and webinars regularly to keep up with the latest treatments and knowledge and continue developing her skills.
The science of injecting
Joyce’s mantra is that the right product, with the right amount at the right place on the right patient can gracefully improve a person’s look, boost his/her confidence, treat any unbalance features and rejuvenate their ageing skin. With her numerous nursing qualification, she loves understanding the science behind injectables treatments to achieve better results for her clients with the best product and treatment options for their goals and skin type.
